What do we need to assist you with your import/export?

To helpWhat do we need as a freight forwarder to help you create import/export? In order to be able to prepare the necessary customs papers, we need to be sent a minimum invoice for the goods that are going into/out of the country. The invoice must state who the goods were sold and bought from, what types of goods they are, and the value. We also need to know the weight and the border against which the goods must be cleared. In addition, we can request other documentation if necessary. What is import? Import is a procedure given by the customs service where goods are to be imported into Norway. When importing goods, there are various records that have to be handled. As an importer, you have a responsibility to be able to, as well as comply with, the customs legislation. There are various fees that must be paid and restrictions that must be observed when clearing goods. Customs clearance of the goods themselves can be done by a freight forwarder through the customs service's electronic customs system (TVINN). How does the procedure take place? The importer contacts a freight forwarder who makes the import electronically through TVINN. The reference number is then sent to the carrier. Whoever transports the goods is obliged to register at the customs station to be passed. The importer is not allowed to unload the car at the destination until the import has been declared. Read more about Imports at the customs service here. What is export? Export is a procedure given by the customs service where goods are to be exported out of Norway. As with imports, there are several records that must be handled. Here you must also be able to and comply with customs legislation. The biggest difference is that there are usually no fees to pay. How does the procedure take place? A freight forwarder is contacted who makes the export using the customs service's system TVINN. We send the export document to the carrier who then shows this at the customs station and gets this certified. The invoice(s) should clearly state who is the seller and buyer, what kind of goods (not just a brand name) and the value of it.

We will also need to know the weight and which borderpoint the goods will arrive/depart. Depending on the type of goods we will ask for necessary documentation or permissions.

 

What is an export?

Export is a procedure given by the Norwegian authorities where goods will be exported from Norway. Like the import it is several stages needed to be handled. Here you also need to know and adhere to customs law and regulations. The biggest difference is that in most cases there are no duties to be paid.

 

How is the export procedure?

A forwarder with access to TVINN will help the exporter make the exportdeclaration. The forwarder sends the declaration to the transporter that will get it stamped by the customs authorities at the bordercrossingpoint leaving Norway.

What is an import?

Import is a procedure given by the Norwegian authorities where goods are imported to Norway. When goods are arriving Norway there are some stages needed to be handled. As an importer you are responsible for knowing and adhering to customs law and regulations.

It might be duties to be paid and regulations needed to be kept when you import goods. The import itself can be handled by a forwarder through the customs electronic system (TVINN).

 

How is the procedure?

The importer will use a forwarder that makes an importdeclaration in TVINN. An referencenumber is sent to the transporter. The transporter must contact the customs authorities on the point of entrance to Norway. The goods are not allowed to be unloaded until the importdeclaration is approved.
